Project Positioning: Laos' first power grid BOT project; Key supporting project of the "Belt and Road" Initiative
Project Scale: Construction of 20 circuits of 115kV lines (total length 257 km); Expansion of 11 units of 115kV substation bays; Connection to 10 traction substations
Commissioning Time: Dec 2021
As a landmark supporting project of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, it adopts Chinese technical standards and equipment. Self-developed systems enabled intelligent control of the entire station, assisting Laos in realizing its dream of transforming from a "landlocked" to a "land-linked" country, demonstrating the strength of Chinese power technology.
As a key project of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the China-Laos Railway is the first international railway invested in and constructed primarily by China, adopting Chinese standards throughout. CYG SUNRI provided core equipment and technical support for the external power supply project in its Laos section, covering integrated automation systems for 3 stations and line protection for 7 stations. Supporting equipment included the PRS-753 high-voltage line protection device and the PRS-7177 online power quality monitoring device. The project faced challenges including tight schedules for national key projects and complex geological conditions across three major regions traversed by the railway. The team overcame difficulties to efficiently complete equipment delivery and commissioning. Notably, Kasi Substation and Sensouk Substation adopted the self-developed PRS-7000 integrated monitoring system, realizing digital station-wide information, networked communication platforms, and standardized information sharing, ensuring stable power supply to the railway traction substations. The project commenced synchronized operation with the China-Laos Railway on December 3, 2021, marking a significant chapter in the construction of a China-Laos community with a shared future.
