Project Details

Serving the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), the project covered protection retrofits for 69 substations distributed nationwide. CYG SUNRI was responsible for the entire process, including site investigation, design, supply, factory acceptance tests (FAT), transportation, installation and commissioning, energization acceptance, and training. The project faced three core difficulties: sites scattered across the entire country with large spans; equipment aged over 40 years with missing drawings and complex wiring; and frequent local armed conflicts leading to severe security situations. Utilizing rich technical retrofit experience, the team accurately completed site surveys and retrofit designs. The successful "blood transfusion" of aging substations like Addis North significantly improved the stability of the power grid in the capital and across the nation. The project results were highly recognized by the client, further consolidating the company's influence in the African power market.
